Take Supplements

Studies show that various types of dietary supplements play significant roles in reducing period pains. While their method of function remains unknown, studies show that people who take these supplements feel relieved after a few weeks. A 2017 study showed that magnesium is more effective in relieving period cramps than placebos in controlled studies.
A 2020 study of nine studies on the potency of ginger, fennel, and cinnamon discovered that they were all linked with reduced pain during menstruation.
Other supplements that can help reduce period cramps include:
- Calcium
- Vitamins B6, B1, E, and D
- Vitamin B12 [3] and fish oil
As with over-the-counter drugs, you should take supplements as directed by your doctor. Contact your doctor if you are taking any other supplements as they can react with the supplements.
