Risk factors of type 1 diabetes

  • Age: the risk of having diabetes while pregnant increases as the female get older. Women above the age of 25 are at a higher risk of having diabetes during pregnancy.
  • Family history: this condition is also prone in women that have a family history of this condition. It tends to show up in every generation.
  • Obesity: being overweight and becoming pregnant increases the risk of slow production of insulin [2] and ends up becoming diabetes.
  • Infections: lack of proper treatment of previous infections or illnesses and can lead to damage of the pancreas.
