Vaginal dryness is also a sign of menopause. Vaginal dryness also causes itching and discomfort of the vaginal. The symptom of vaginal dryness makes it hard for the female to have vaginal sex because it would make the vaginal itch more. It could also cause the skin in the vaginal area to break, which would increase the risk of vaginal infections [6].

It is best to avoid sex for some time if you are experiencing this symptom. However, there are various moisturizers, lubricants some medications to relieve vaginal dryness [7]. It is essential that the doctor prescribes the medicines.

While some women may experience specific symptoms and some may not, some symptoms are common and occur in most women. Some other common symptoms of menopause you could experience either during perimenopause or during menopause include:

  • Dry skin
  • Insomnia [8]
  • Night sweats
  • Low fertility [9]
  • Trouble focusing and learning

Menopause could also increase the risk of some health conditions. However, menopause does not cause these conditions; instead, it results from hormonal changes that may have occurred. Some examples of health conditions that could be traced to the hormonal change that occurs during menopause include; osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and breast cancer.
