Low Body Temperature in Babies: Causes, Treatment, and Prevention

Prevention of Low Body Temperature in Babies

One of the ways of preventing an infant from getting a cold is by properly dressing the infant without overheating or overdressing. Another strategy that can be considered is ensuring skin-to-skin contact with either a caregiver or a parent. With this, the child is kept warm at the regular baby’s body temperature.

However, you should note that not all cases of low body temperature or hypothermia can be prevented. In some cases, low body temperature can be a sign that the brain of the child is not transmitting an accurate signal to automatically regulate its temperature. Or can also mean that the child is unable to perform certain things that should normally raise the temperature of the body. By immediately seeking medical attention when you notice a drop in a baby’s body temperature, you can help prevent more serious complications.
