Ganglion Cysts and the Treatment

A ganglion cyst is a small, round, fluid-filled lump that grows beneath the surface of the skin, usually on the hands. The cyst lies on a small stalk that can be moved.

It is unclear what causes ganglion cysts. Joint irritation [6] and tendon irritation may play part. There are certain things to know about ganglion cysts such as:

  • They grow slowly or quickly
  • Ganglion cysts are usually smaller than 2.5 cm
  • They are mostly painless.

They develop on wrist joints and tendon and they also develop on palm and fingers.

Ganglion cyst often disappear without treatment and rarely cause any issues. But if starts to hurt or makes you unable to perform certain activities, it is best to get the cyst drained.
