First Eat Some Food

You really need to eat. The last thing you want to do if you’re trying to avoid becoming drunk is drink on an empty stomach. Food in the stomach slows down the absorption of alcohol, which can lower your BAC.

Before going to a party or night out, eat a meal or at least a substantial snack, and keep munching while drinking.

Some meals are better than others to eat before drinking because, in addition to reducing the absorption of alcohol, they can also lower your risk of stomach problems brought on by alcohol, such as heartburn [1] and nausea, [2] as well as help you avoid a hangover.
