How to Drink without Getting Drunk

Don’t Chug, Sip

One regular drink typically takes the body an hour to process. When you chug or drink quickly, your body doesn’t have the time it needs to do this, which causes alcohol to build up in your bloodstream and raises your blood alcohol concentration (BAC).  [3]

The best approach to avoid getting drunk is to sip your drinks carefully and limit yourself to no more than one drink each hour.

Don’t purchase another drink or allow someone to fill your glass until it is completely empty to help you pace yourself. Ice in your glass will also make you move more slowly (and water down the booze a tad).
