Sweating Out a Cold: Does it Hurt or Help?

Does Exercising Help Treat a Cold?

A little workout when you are cold is not a bad idea. Exercise can help relieve certain cold symptoms such as nasal congestion. However, it will not completely treat your cold or make you recover faster.

You must consider how you are feeling before you decide to exercise. You don’t have to force yourself to exercise if you don’t feel good enough. You also shouldn’t exercise if you are experiencing certain symptoms, such as fever [2], cough, or congestion in your chest.

If you decide to work out while sick, ensure to consider reducing the intensity or length of your exercise. You should also remember to stay hydrated.
