What Is Skinny Fat?

How Does Being ‘Skinny Fat’ Look?

There is no standardized definition of “Skinny fat” and it isn’t a medical term, so different people use the term in various ways.

It is commonly used to describe someone with less muscle tone and strength as well as people with high body fat percentage, even though they have a normal body mass index (BMI). The term is often used as a form of insult for someone who is not physically fit.

A person who is considered “skinny fat” may have a large amount of visceral fat [3] and tends to not have much muscle definition.
