Oatmeal and Aloe
Look for a medicated shampoo or bath soap that combines oatmeal and aloe vera gel for your dog. This combination works well to soothe the skin and relieve itchiness. The healing properties of oatmeal and aloe can work their magic on your dog to significantly improve the symptoms of pollen allergy.
Aloe contains acemannan, a type of protein known to provide relief from itching and inflammation. It also contains enzymes for the same purpose that can only be found in fresh plants and not in aloe-based products. Ensure that you remove the yellowish goo around the plant as it is a form of latex that can be dangerous to your dog’s health. Bottled aloe can also work to improve symptoms, but the fresh plant is more effective.
For the best results, leave the gel on to dry and cool the skin.
