Prepare a bland diet
After the fasting period of the dog, you can now provide the dog with a bland diet. As stated before, do away with its regular food and replace it with boiled chicken and rice or cooked hamburger and rice (bland diet recipes for dogs) [4]. Cooking it is still not enough. You should also drain off the fat from the hamburger, make sure the chicken is skinless and let the rice be the most of the meal. This should help the stool gradually go back to normal, and then you can slowly reintroduce its regular food. After a few days, the dog should be back to normal.
Good bacteria
Good bacteria can also be beneficial to a dog, especially in the case of diarrhea. You can add some plain yogurt or cottage cheese to its bland diet. These are a form of good bacteria that would do a lot of good to the dog’s bowel. Avoid the sugary yogurt and feed it only plain yogurt. You can also add some probiotic supplements to the dog’s diet; it helps with diarrhea and the overall health of the dog by supporting a healthy immune system.
