Parvo in Dogs and Puppies: What You Need to Know

What Are the Symptoms of Parvo in Puppies?

Parvovirus can cause severe illness in puppies. Successful treatment usually depends on how early you catch the signs of the virus in puppies and the early you get your puppy to a vet. The following symptoms are commonly associated with parvovirus:

  • Lethargy [8]
  • Vomiting [9]
  • Bloody diarrhea [10]
  • Loss of appetite
  • Weight loss [11]
  • Weakness
  • Depression [12]
  • Dehydration

These are all severe symptoms that should be reported to a vet immediately if your pet experiences any of them. It would help to contact your vet immediately if you think your puppy has parvo. Also, ensure you notify your vet’s staff ahead of time of your observations and your puppy’s symptoms so that they can take the right quarantine steps to ensure your puppy doesn’t spread the infection to other dogs.
