10 Causes of High Cholesterol

Familial Hypercholesterolemia

Familial hypercholesterolemia [3] is a genetic disorder that hinders the body’s ability to remove LDL. It is a rare disease order that is inherited through genetics from parents to children. Studies have shown that the condition affects at least 1 in 500 people [4] and in Europe, the number rises up to 1 in 250 people. The genetic FH is usually more severe than the non-genetic FH as individuals who inherited the condition tend to have higher cholesterol rates than those who did not. Another bad effect of this inherited condition is that it causes affected people to develop heart conditions from a young age.
