Magnesium may boost athletic performance

Beets are famous for boosting the performance of people who take them before physical activity. What many do not know is that magnesium is the main active ingredient in this vegetable.
Studies show [13] that magnesium can help increase the blood sugar present in your muscles and get rid of lactate. This helps improve performance because lactate buildup during exercises reduces capacity and causes fatigue. In studies with athletes [14] and older or people, magnesium supplements have been found to improve [15] exercise performance.
A study reported [16] that volleyball players who used 250 mg of magnesium daily had shown improvements in their performance. Similar positive results were noted in athletes who used magnesium supplements for four weeks [17].
