L-Arginine

An umbrella review of 7 meta-analyses in 4,676 people demonstrated showed that L-arginine supplements greatly decreased total blood pressure in people with high levels. It also reduced diastolic blood pressure in pregnant women with high level.

The review also revealed that L-arginine supplements greatly enhanced blood vessel function and blood flow.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a water-soluble that is required by the body for many important processes. Although results of studies are mixed, recent study shows that vitamin C supplements can reduce blood pressure.

In a review of 8 studies in people with high blood pressure, consuming 300-1,000 mg per day of vitamin C caused great reduction in blood pressure. Studies also reveal that people who have low amount of vitamin C in their blood have higher risks of developing high blood pressure than people with high levels of this vitamin.
