Extreme temperatures have also proved effective in killing lice. Soak any lice-infested item in boiling water that is 130°F or more. To ensure that it is completely rid of lice, you can place it in a hot dryer for fifteen minutes. If you do not have access to a dryer, you can put the item in an air-tight plastic bag and leave up two weeks to eliminate the insects.
Ensure that the insect doesn’t fall from your hair to household items which increases your risk of a re-infestation. It is best to vacuum floors and furniture where the insect may have fallen to keep them away completely. Studies have shown that lice are eliminated if exposed to heat [4] greater than 128.3°F.
