7 Common Causes of Hair Loss

Chances in hormone and medical conditions

When medical doctors examine a patient with hair loss complaints, and they notice the hair follicles length are constant and the loss started suddenly, they mostly conclude that it is a medical condition. Different medical conditions are responsible for hair loss, such as hormone changes due to pregnancy, parturition, menopause, stopping birth control pills, and thyroid imbalance. An abnormal state of the immune system can also contribute to hair loss; alopecia areata, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) [1] are examples. Infections like ringworm, trichotillomania (a hair-pulling condition) [2], seborrheic dermatitis [3], and psoriasis [4] are also responsible for hair loss.
