9 Health Benefits of Vitamin B6

Minimizes Cancer Risk and Reduces Arthritis Symptoms

Adequate intake of vitamin B6 may reduce your chances of developing certain forms of cancer. The reason for this is suspected to be due to the ability of this vitamin to combat inflammation which may contribute to the factors causing cancer and other chronic conditions.

Vitamin B6 may help reduce rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. Rheumatoid arthritis is caused by high levels of inflammation in the body, which may reduce the levels of vitamin B6. It is however not decided yet, if supplementing with vitamin B6 reduces inflammation in people with this condition. This is because there is a study which shows that vitamin B6 was able to correct the low blood levels of the vitamin but did not reduce inflammation in the body. While another study showed that those who had a daily intake of the vitamin, had a significant reduction of pro-inflammatory molecules. This contradiction may be because of the difference in dosages and study length. Therefore, although inflammation related to rheumatoid arthritis may reduce blood levels of vitamin B6, supplementing with large doses of vitamin B6 may help lessen inflammation and correct deficiencies.
