Astragalus: Benefits, Uses and More

Sources of Astragalus

Astragalus is typically prepared as a decoction in TCM. The roots are extracted after being heated in water. It frequently goes with other herbs, including ginseng.

Nearly all health food stores sell astragalus supplements. Although the raw root may be available in some places, the herb is usually offered in tablet, liquid, or capsule form.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) [12] advises looking for a Supplement Facts label on the product you purchase if you decide to purchase astragalus or any supplement. Important details on both the active substances and other ingredients (such as fillers, binders, and flavorings) will be included on this label.
