Bilberry Benefits, Uses, Types and Side Effects

Gingivitis and Venous Disorder

Bilberry may aid those with gingivitis in reducing gum (gingival) irritation, according to some preliminary research.

For seven days, participants in a trial that was published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences were randomly assigned to ingest either 250 grammes (g) of bilberries, 500 grammes of bilberries, a placebo, or usual care. The scientists came to the conclusion that 500 g of bilberries reduced gum inflammation.

However, more investigation is required to decide whether bilberry is a suitable gingivitis treatment.

Veins that are twisted and swollen due to varicose veins have weak vein walls and valves. This ailment as well as other vein-related conditions have long been treated with bilberry, including:

  • Chronic venous failure
  • Hemorrhoids
  • The tiniest blood vessels in your body, capillaries, are thought to be protected by bilberry.

Bilberry’s ability to treat venous problems has, however, received very little research, and additional study is required before its usage may be advised.
