Diagnosing mold allergies and exposure

There are no reliable tests that can pinpoint when or where mold exposure may have occurred.
However, your doctor may examine your symptoms and carry out one of the following tests to screen for mold allergies:
- A blood test: A blood sample is taken by your doctor, who then sends it to a lab to count certain antibodies that can reveal how sensitive your immune system is to various mold species.
- Test on the skin: Using a tiny needle, your doctor administers a small quantity of mold to your skin. If you are allergic to that kind of mold, your skin will develop pimples, a rash, or hives.
