Rapid Heartbeat (Cardiac Arrhythmia)

Each of us sometimes notices that the heart begins to beat faster. This may be due to stress, anxiety [6], fear, or, conversely, uncontrollable joy. But here we clearly see the connection with our emotional state, and there is no need to worry about this. And if in a state of relative emotional calm, without the participation of any external factors, your heart begins to pound madly, the reason for this may be a lack of potassium.
The heart is a very powerful muscle that is never at rest. Potassium is especially important for the work of the heart, since it is a conductor of electrical impulses that regulate contractions of the heart muscle.
Prolonged potassium deficiency can cause an irregular heartbeat, which manifests itself as arrhythmias [7] or palpitations.
The heart’s ability to contract and relax is determined by the amount of potassium and sodium in the body. Without potassium, the heart can fail at any moment because it stops beating. Lack of potassium is a common cause of abnormal heart rhythms in which blood flow becomes intermittent. Heart failure develops, there is a tendency to thrombus formation.
In addition, the feeling that the heart “freezes” or the rate of heartbeat decreases for no apparent reason, among other things, may also indicate a potassium deficiency in the body.
