Blood pressure and Liver damage

Various human studies show that hibiscus beverages and supplements can reduce blood pressure. A study in 46 adults who had high blood pressure [5] discovered that drinking 2 cups (474 ml) of hibiscus tea daily for one month combined with dietary and lifestyle changes helped reduce blood pressure significantly more than diet and lifestyle changes alone.
Other studies show that hibiscus extracts may also be used as pharmaceutical drugs to reduce high blood pressure. However, more studies are needed to understand how this works.
Hibiscus also helps protect your liver from damages related to diabetes, obesity, and certain drugs. The plant contains colorful anthocyanins in hibiscus that may help increase liver antioxidant enzymes, protect against oxidative stress [6], and prevent liver fat accumulation in rats with obesity and diabetes. Other animal studies showed that hibiscus extracts may prevent liver toxicity linked to chemotherapy medications.
It is important to note that there is not enough research on the effects of hibiscus on the liver in humans. More studies need to be done to understand if hibiscus has the same benefits in humans as it does in animals.
