How do you treat a spider bite at home?

You can treat spider bites at home. Follow these steps to treat a nonvenomous spider bite:

  • Place an ice pack on and off the bite for 10 minutes at a time. Ensure you place the ice or the ice pack in a cloth before placing it on your skin.
  • Raise the area to improve swelling.
  • To reduce itching, you can use an antihistamine, like Benadryl (diphenhydramine).
  • Ensure you clean the area regularly with soap and water to prevent and treat the infection.
  • Apply an antibiotic ointment to the area if you start to experience blisters.
