What are the symptoms of low chloride level?
In most cases, the symptoms of low chloride level are difficult to identify. You may experience symptoms of other electrolyte imbalances or a condition that causes hypochloremia. The most common causes of hypochloremia include:
- Difficulty breathing
- Fluid loss
- Weakness or fatigue
- Diarrhea or vomiting, caused by fluid loss
- Dehydration
In some cases, low chloride levels may also occur due to low sodium levels (hyponatremia). In this case, your healthcare provider may have to first treat your hyponatremia.
