Preventive Measures for Menopause Belly

There are steps you can take to limit the effect menopause has on your body shape. However, since genetics and your prior health history play a role in how menopause affects your body, these steps might not completely prevent some menopause belly bulge.

  • Live and maintain an active lifestyle: If you are able to be active 3 to 4 times per week, consistently elevate your heart rate, and/or participate in strength training, you may observe that you experience fewer symptoms of menopause as your estrogen levels decline.
  • Consider quitting smoking: If you smoke it would help that you quit it. This is because as you age, the health effects of smoking continue to increase. If you quit smoking, you may find you have higher energy levels and are more motivated to take care of your body.
  • Talk with a doctor about your specific health concerns: With menopause, you will need to start taking care of your body a little differently, you may also have different health concerns going forward. For this it would be best that you talk to your doctor.
