Side Effects of Magnesium

Low Blood Pressure (Hypotension)

This mineral helps to regulate blood pressure levels, preventing hypertension (high blood pressure). If MA becomes too much in the body, this is can cause the blood pressure level to go lower than normal. The mineral can have this effect by modulating vascular tone and stimulating nitric oxide production. Nitric oxide is a molecule that helps calm the blood vessels and prevents spiking.

Feeling lightheaded, nauseous, and faint can be signs that your blood pressure is down. If left untreated, hypotension can cause serious damage to your heart and brain, or may lead to death. It can also cause hypoventilation, which is the reduction of oxygen in the lungs. This causes shallow breaths and can cause lung damage.
