Iron makes up necessary proteins and enzymes for immune system function. This is one essential mineral that carries oxygen from the lungs to other parts of the body. It also helps our muscles store and use oxygen. Iron comes in different forms but the body absorbs it best from animal products like red meat, chicken, turkey, sardines, and oysters.
Ensure that you limit the amount of red meat you eat as consuming too much of it can cause significant health problems. Vegetable sources of iron include beans, broccoli, and kale. The body only needs minimal amounts of iron, so high doses may significantly harm your health.
