Why Wine Causes a Hangover and How to Handle It?

Why Wine Gives Hangover?

Dehydration

Dehydration is one of the major factors responsible for hang over, but it does not say everything that need to be known. Alcohol is commonly called diuretic by doctors because it causes water loss by peeing. Consumption of alcohol causes suppression of vasopressin (an antidiuretic), it stops people from excessive peeing. Vasopressin is produced in the brain.

Dehydration causes headaches [2], due to constriction of blood vessels. This reduces the amount of oxygen that flows to the brain. There are no pain receptors in the brain, but swelling of blood vessels activate the receptors in the membrane enveloping the brain, this causes pain behind the head.
