Why Wine Causes a Hangover and How to Handle It?

Cytokine

A study was done in Korea and it showed that excess consumption of alcohol affects the production of a broad spectrum of small proteins called cytokines [3]. These proteins are responsible for fighting off inflammation and infections (and other toxins) by enhancing the communication between neighboring cells.

When cytokine is moderately present in the body it has more advantages than disadvantages. However, if produced in excess, it becomes poison, worsening headaches, nausea and pains in the body. Increased level of cytokines can also lead to memory loss by affecting memory formation. So, if you experience persistence of loss of memory, it is probably the red wine.
