Dosage for Multiple Myeloma
In the case of multiple myeloma, the dosage of Empliciti that you receive depends on your body weight and what drugs you are taking together with it.
If you are taking Empliciti with lenalidomide (Revlimid) and dexamethasone, here are the required dosage:
- 10 mg of Empliciti for every kilogram (about 2.2 pounds) of your body weight
- You would need to go to the hospital weekly to get weekly doses of Empliciti for the first eight weeks, that is two months which is considered two cycles of treatment
- After your first two cycles of treatment, it reduces to once every two weeks
If you are taking Empliciti with pomalidomide (Pomalyst) and dexamethasone, the required dosage includes:
- 10 mg of Empliciti for every kilogram (about 2.2 pounds) of your body weight
- You would need to go to the hospital weekly to get weekly doses of Empliciti for the first eight weeks, that is two months which is considered two cycles of treatment
- After your first two cycles of treatment, the dosage increases to 20 mg of Empliciti for every kilogram of your body weight, given once every four weeks.
Basically, an adult who weighs 70 kg would receive 700 mg dose of Empliciti. The dose calculation is multiplying the size of the person in kg by 10 to give the amount of drug to administer in milligram.
