How to Cope with the Side Effects of Parkinson’s Medications

Try a different therapy

Parkinson’s disease can be treated in other ways except with medication. Surgery called deep brain stimulation (DBS) [4] is used to treat Parkinson’s symptoms like rigidity and tremors. If you suffer from dyskinesia and have had Parkinson’s disease for at least 4 years, your doctor might advise this operation. Your need for medication may be reduced if you get DBS.

Consult your physician

Report any side effects that you experience from your Parkinson’s medications to your doctor immediately away. Your doctor can offer management advice. For instance, they might alter your dosage or switch you to a different medication. Without first talking to your doctor, never stop taking any medications.
