Warnings
There are several certain factors to take note of before the usage of this medication, such as:
- Alcohol: presently, research has not shown any problem arising from the usage of ocrevus while taking alcohol. However, it is advised to speak to your doctor about taking alcohol.
- Hepatitis B: this is an infection that can be found in the liver caused by a hepatitis B virus. If an individual has a history of this condition, it should be communicated to the doctor in order for proper tests to be done. These tests are important because the drug can inhibit the body from fighting against this virus thereby leading to liver damage.
- Recent live vaccination: the usage of ocrevus after taking a vaccine increases the risk of getting an infection from the vaccine. Ocrevus weakens the immune system making it difficult to fight against these infections. Therefore, it is better to tell the doctor if a vaccine has been used prior to this medication.
- Pregnancy: it is advised to talk to your doctor before getting pregnant while using ocrevus. However, there is no known medical problem that can be caused by using ocrevus while pregnant or breastfeeding, but it is important to inform your doctor.
