Dosage for Hypercalcemia Caused by Cancer

The recommended dose of Xgeva for the case of hypercalcemia caused by cancer is 120 mg once every 4 weeks.

Remember that it is used subcutaneously, your healthcare provider will give you Xgeva as an injection under your skin. Usually the injection is given in either your upper arm, upper thigh, or belly. It can only be administered by your doctor, so you would have to go to your doctor’s office for the injection once every 4 weeks.

During your first month of treatment, you’ll need extra injections of 120mg on days 8 and 15.

Dosage for Giant Cell Tumor

In the case of a giant cell tumor, the recommended dose for Xgeva is 120mg one every 4 weeks.

You would be given Xgeva as an injection under your skin by your healthcare provider. Possible areas on the body where injection is given include your upper arm, upper thigh, or stomach. You will have to visit your doctor’s office or a clinic for the injection once every 4 weeks.

During your first month of treatment, you’ll need extra injections of 120mg on days 8 and 15.

To treat low calcium levels, your doctor may prescribe calcium supplements [2] and vitamin D supplements.
