The kidney is located on both sides of the spine, in the abdomen, above the waist. Kidneys are shaped like a bean and are reddish in color. The main function of the kidney is to filter blood going to the heart. The kidney also helps the body remove waste and excess fluids like urine from the body.

Kidney failure is when the kidneys can no longer perform these functions. It is when the kidney loses its ability to function properly enough to filter and remove waste from the blood. Kidney failure is gradual and doesn’t just happen overnight. Some causes of kidney failure are damage to the kidney caused by a physical injury, side effects of diseases like genetic diseases, autoimmune diseases, high blood pressure, and etc. [1] Other causes are over eating and an unhealthy diet, overindulging in alcohol and excessive dehydration.

Sleeping Disorders

Sleeping disorders like insomnia and sleep apnea are symptoms of kidney failure. Insomnia is a sleep disorder that causes you to find it hard to fall asleep or stay asleep. Sleep apnea on the other hand, is a condition in which breathing can become difficult and interrupted while sleeping. It is usually followed by loud snoring and tiredness even after sleeping for a long time. One major cause of sleep apnea is obesity and obesity have been linked to kidney failures and diseases.
