5 Common Symptoms of Addison’s Disease

Diarrhea

Another symptom of Addison’s disease is diarrhea. Having a bowel movement, which some people call popping, is a regular part of a human life. However, sometimes, due to certain reasons this process can be tampered with. When a person’s stool is watery or loose, it is called diarrhea. One of the symptoms of Addison’s disease is the frequent and urgent need to constantly have a bowel movement, in a manner which is different from what is normal. Bloating, abdominal pain and nausea may also accompany diarrhea in this case.

Low Blood Pressure

Addison’s disease can affect a person’s blood pressure and cause a consistent and drastic fall in a person’s blood pressure. Cortisol, which is a hormone that helps in the maintenance of the blood sugar levels, when no longer produced, can result in low blood pressure. Low blood pressure, also known as orthostatic hypotension [6], is a condition in which there is a sudden and quick drop in blood pressure when a person sitting or lying down, suddenly stands up. This drop may cause dizziness or fainting. This condition can also be called postural hypotension.
