ADHD-Hoarding Connection
Hoarding has traditionally been associated with a mental health condition known as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) [2], which is a condition that causes one to be obsessive and leads to compulsive behaviors. However, recent research suggests that hoarding may be more closely related to ADHD than OCD.
Decision-making Issues
Both hoarding and ADHD can be defined by difficulties with executive functioning.
People who have inattentive-type ADHD often find it difficult to focus, pay attention, and make decisions. Likewise people with hoarding disorder tend to demonstrate increased attention, impulsivity, and inability to make decisions.
