6 Signs of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Numbness, Tingling and Minor Joint Swelling

Pressure on the nerves may occur due to the inflammation of the tendons. When that occurs, it leads to numbness [4], tingling, and a burning feeling in the hands, called carpal tunnel syndrome. Note that the hands or feet joints may produce a squeak or cracking noise as specific damaged cartilage grinds the joints during movement.

Numbness and tingling may occur due to a variety of causes. One of the most prominent causes of numbness and tingling is an insect or animal bite, toxins in seafood, abnormal vitamin B-12, potassium, calcium, or sodium.

When there’s an early and mild inflammation in the joint, it makes the joint appear bigger than normal, and the swelling is associated with the joints’ warmth. Note that flare-ups in the joint can extend from a few days to few weeks, and they could heighten with time.

Apart from rheumatoid arthritis [5], other significant joint swelling causes include gout, psoriatic arthritis, and septic arthritis. Apart from those conditions, minor joint swelling can be due to injuries, sarcoidosis, tendinitis, and rheumatic fever.
