Diagnosis for Psoriatic Arthritis in the Knee
Treatment is more effective when the diagnosis is done early. Your doctor can make use of imaging tools to help them diagnose psoriatic arthritis in the knee. Using X-rays, MRI, or an ultrasound of the knee may help them check for irregularities or signs of inflammation in the joint and surrounding tissues.
Additional tests can also be done on the knee to help rule out other common forms of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis [2] and osteoarthritis [3]. They may also order blood tests to check for inflammation and specific antibodies from other types of arthritis.
If needed, your doctor may also remove some fluid from the joint to help eliminate the possibility of other underlying conditions, such as infections.
