8 Simple Stretches to Relieve Lower Back Pain

Pelvic Tilt

Loosen tension in your back muscles with the pelvic tilt stretch. Tighten your abdominal muscles and tilt your pelvis upwards while lying on your back.

Follow these simple steps to perform this exercise.

  • Lie down on your back with your feet flat on the ground and your knees bent. There should be a small space between your lower back and the floor due to the natural curve of your spine.
  • Keep your arms by your sides.
  • Gently arch your lower back by pushing out your stomach.
  • Stay in this position for about 10 seconds, then relax.
  • Push your pelvis upwards a bit while tightening your abdominal and buttock muscles. Your lower back will press into the floor as you do this. Your pelvis should remain on the floor throughout.
  • Remain in this position for about 10 seconds.
  • Run through all the steps a few times. With time you should be able to do up to 30 reps.
