Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS): Symptoms, Causes, Diagnosis & More

Treatment

Ankylosis spondylitis cannot be completely cured, but its symptoms can be managed.

Surgery

In most cases, people with ankylosing spondylitis don’t require surgery. But your doctor might advise you to have surgery if the pains in the joints are severe or unbearable or if the hip joint is damaged and needs to be replaced.

Exercise

People with ankylosing spondylitis are advised to avoid sitting or lying down regularly, because the more you do them the worse you feel. Exercise helps you stand more erect and places your spine limber. In some cases, being active for a long period can remove pain without any drugs.
