When to visit your doctor
Your doctor may check you for COPD or screen you for lung cancer if you are at high risk of either condition. You are at a high risk of having this disease if you are exposed to toxins in your workplace, you smoke, or other factors.
Your doctor may refer you to an oncologist or pulmonologist to ensure you get the best treatments. Early diagnosis and treatment are important for both conditions.
