Lymphedema Signs & Symptoms

Stage 1 – Mild Stage

More commonly, lymphedema is diagnosed in the first stage, when swelling is already present (pale, cold, and painless). [3] The swelling is of a soft consistency and subsides during rest, especially after going to bed. It often occurs in the evening or after exercise but recedes overnight. It is also associated with a feeling of heaviness in the affected limb.

At this stage, the success of lymphedema treatment is lower. [4]

Also, symptoms can often worsen in hot weather and during menstruation. If you press on the edema, then a small fossa will appear. The patient are often found to develop a tumor during the search for the causes of lymphedema, but they can be treated successfully and earlier.
