Fruits

Fruits are excellent sources of Vitamins A and C, so they are required for malaria patients. The best fruits for the job include carrots, beets, and papaws. Citruses are the best fruits to combat malaria, including oranges, grapefruits, limes, and lemons. The vitamin B complex in these fruits helps to strengthen immune [4] defenses. The good news is that they are common in all the tropical regions where malaria is prevalent.

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) helps maintain normal body temperature and helps reduce the spread of the parasite. It also speeds up the recovery process and corrects the disorder. Citrus fruits are also high in water, so they serve as fluids to keep the body hydrated. You can eat them as fruits or blend them into juices depending upon your condition.

Studies have shown that lime and lemon contain properties that help in the treatment of quartan malaria, caused by the plasmodium malariae. A 2:8 ratio of lime juice and lemon mixed in a glass of water should improve the fever.

Quinine is a known treatment for malaria, and research has shown that grapefruit has a component similar to it, which helps to neutralize the effects of plasmodium in the human body. Including grapefruit in the diet of an infected person speeds up the recovery process. It is not advisable to take grapefruit together with quinine drugs because it lowers the digestive system’s capability to absorb the medication.
