Medication

All household members of a person with an infection, as well as caretakers and anybody else in close contact, will probably need treatment to avoid a pinworm infection or reinfection.
The most widely used and successful treatments for pinworm infections include:
- Albendazole [3] (Albenza)
- mebendazole [4] (Vermox)
- Pyrantel pamoate [5] (Reese’s Pinworm Medicine)
A typical drug regimen consists of an initial dose, followed by a second dose administered two to three weeks later. It can take more than one course to completely get rid of the eggs.
You can treat skin itchiness with creams or ointments.
