Alcoholism and Toxins

Studies show that people who drink alcohol excessively are more susceptible to thiamine deficiency or other vital vitamin deficiency because of unhealthy dietary habits, a common cause of peripheral neuropathy. Studies also show that alcoholism can directly cause nerve damage, a condition commonly referred to as alcoholic neuropathy.
Toxins like heavy metals (arsenic, mercury, lead, and thallium), and some industrial and environmental chemicals can cause tingling in the hands or feet. Toxins may also include certain drugs, mostly chemotherapy medications used to treat lung cancer, but also some antibiotic and antiviral drugs.
