Most of the time, jaundice is a sign of a problem in the liver, gallbladder, or pancreas. It is worth mentioning that the use of drugs, the presence of cancer, blood diseases, and birth defects can also cause jaundice. Hepatic surgery and other related surgery can also make an individual predisposed to suffering from jaundice.

Newborns normally present with jaundice as a physiological occurrence [5] as long as it happens after 24 hours of birth, that is, between the second and third days of birth and improves between the fifth and seventh days of birth. If the characteristics of jaundice do not subside, diseases should be investigated in order to identify the cause.
