What Does it Feel Like to Have a Seizure?

What does a generalized seizure feel like?

Generalized seizures affect both sides of the brain, which increases your chances of losing consciousness. However, you may feel symptoms before or after the seizure. Here are the different types of generalized seizures and what they might feel like.

Generalized tonic-clonic (GTC) seizures

A generalized tonic-clonic seizure [3] is a type of seizure that will most likely cause you to lose consciousness. You will not feel anything during this period.

Before it occurs, you may feel an aura. When the seizure begins and you become unconscious, your body will contract during the tonic stage. And during the clonic stage, you will convulse. During the clonic stage, you experience an alternation in your muscles between rigidity and relaxation. People can lose control of their bladder and bowels during or after the seizures.

At the end of the seizure, there is a feeling of confusion, fatigue, and soreness. You may feel pain and discomfort if you fell during the seizure. You may also feel some serious headaches.
