Essential Oils

Many essential oils contain properties that help relieve inflamed bronchioles including basil, eucalyptus, tea tree peppermint, lemongrass, rosemary, lavender, thyme, and oregano. Adding a few drops of any of these oils into hot and steamy water before inhaling may be more effective than the regular steam inhalation procedure.

Basil, also called tulsi is loaded with anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties that help loosen thick mucus and bring immediate relief to respiratory problems like bronchitis. Eucalyptus is anti-inflammatory which helps [6] reduce swelling of the bronchial tubes that’s causing discomfort. Tea tree oil contains powerful
antiviral and antimicrobial properties that help inhibit the virus that causes the infection. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that help relax the swollen tubes, and decongest the airways.

Oregano contains carvacrol, a compound packed with anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties that relieves chest congestion and fights infections and diseases. Lavender oil has menthol, which provides relief [7] from nasal congestion and inhibits, while peppermint helps relax [8] bronchial muscles, relieving shortness of breath.
