Steam Inhalation

Steam inhalation is a procedure [5] of bending your head over a bowl filled with hot steamy water, with a towel covering the back of your head. It is advisable to keep your eyes closed and your face about ten inches distant from the hot liquid. The inhaled steam is effective in loosening the thick mucus blocking the airways. The result of this homemade remedy is almost instantaneous because, after a few minutes into the procedure, you may begin to feel the phlegm loosen. It then comes out through the nostrils or becomes easy to cough up and spit out. Adding a few drops of some essential oils may increase the effectiveness of steam inhalation to relieve bronchitis.
